Site Medical Lead – Nanaimo Primary Care Centre (200-1312) (Medical Leadership)

The Site Medical Lead will work in partnership with the Site Manager and supported by the implementation team including the Nanaimo Division of Family Practice, to launch an innovative new primary care centre while ensuring continuity of urgent primary care services in Nanaimo.With the Site Manager co-lead, the Site Medical Lead will work pro-actively to establish team-based care and collaboration amongst Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and inter-disciplinary staff to support quality primary care and continuous improvement of services, including:1. Engage with PCPs to support provision of urgent and primary care services, including: a. Recruitment activities of PCPs including responding to inquiries, leading search/ selection processes b. High level of support for onboarding of PCPs. c. Oversee scheduling and invoicing/billing processes. d. Establish principles and processes to advance team based and integrated care amongst PCPs.2. Support the development of stabilization services for medically complex, unattached clients.3. Collaborate with Indigenous Partners to create and embed a culturally safe health care environment and services.4. Develop an attachment protocol, when appropriate, and participate in evaluation processes.5. Provide clinical leadership to support implementation and optimization of clinic Electronic Medical Records (EMR).6. Establish administrative procedures, with Site Manager, to ensure appropriate standards of medical care.7. Ensure PCPs and centre compliance with the professional standards of the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives with regards to overall clinic operations 8. Support patient safety and continuity across PCP team with results management.9. Support implementation of site Quality Committees linked to the Primary Care Quality Council10. Create collaborative relationship with Site Medical Lead of the Nanaimo Medical Arts Urgent and Primacy Care Centre (UPCC) in support of shifting primary care for unstable, unattached patients in the Nanaimo region to the new Primary Care Network and optimizing community access to walk-in urgent care at Medical Arts UPCC.
