Burns Maendel Consulting Engineers Ltd. (BMCE) is seeking a Municipal Engineering Technologist for immediate employment in Brandon, MB, within the Municipal Department. As a contributing member of our Engineering design team, you will enjoy a fast paced, friendly environment that is collaborative and energized to deliver design solutions in a timely and cost-effective manner. Self-motivation, teamwork, and the ability to work within time constraints are essential to this position.What will a day at BMCE look like:Working as part of a team within the BMCE Municipal Department your Monday morning will include a project team meeting to establish priorities for the week. Open Transparent communication is essential at BMCE.During Summer months you will have the opportunity to enjoy working outside and gain valuable experience in the field completing topographical surveys, utilizing Done technologies, and completing project inspections. You will be involved in the layout of various construction projects ranging from Sewer & Water to Buildings & Structures. During the Winter months you will have the opportunity to enjoy a warm office environment and work on design projects. Utilizing AutoCAD Civil3D daily to complete detailed design drawings for small and large design projects as assigned by the Project Engineer. Some of the tasks will include: Reviews rough sketches, drawings, buildings, specifications, and other engineering data Performs necessary calculations and assists in the design process to complete projectsAssists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photos on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristicsCollaborates with Project Engineer modifies drawings as necessaryPrepares design computations and quantity estimatesProvides technical support to other staff in area of expertisePerform other duties as assignedQualifications and Requirements:Clear written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skillsAbility to work effectively on a team and individually Ability to work independently in the field with direction/support from project EngineersWell-developed time management and personal organizational skillsAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesValid Driver’s LicenseRequired Education and Experience:Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with specialty in Municipal is preferred.Must have experience or training with Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite software, including AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D.3+ years relevant work experience would be an asset.Current designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or ability to register as such with Certified Technicians & Technologists of Manitoba (CTTAM).Position Duration: Permanent Full TimeLocation: Brandon, MBRate of Pay: The successful candidate will be remunerated based on their skills and experience.Closing Date: Once suitable candidate is selected.Applicants should submit a cover letter, their transcripts and resume with 3 references to:info@bmce.ca and reference “Municipal Engineering Technologist Position” in the subject line.*We thank all who apply, but only those considered for an interview will be contacted.
