Youth Programming and Case Management Coordinator

Report to :Acting Executive Director

Classification : Contract/ 35 hours per week

Job Summary :The Youth Programming and Case Management Coordinator will be an essential member of theROC Youth Services team, reporting to Senior Staff. This role is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities that support youth, with a particular focus on mental health and overall well-being. The Youth Programming and Case Management Coordinator will coordinate and support volunteers as required, provide essential mental health support and referrals, oversee youth participating in court-supervised community service hours, and support in managing caseloads within the Youth Inclusion Program (YIP).

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare, deliver, and evaluate programs for youth participants, focusing on mental health, well-being, and personal development.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive records on program evaluation, registration, consents, attendance, mental health support services provided, court-supervised hours, and YIP caseloads.
  • Ensure program facilities are safe, inclusive, and conducive to a supportive environment.
  • Conduct research to identify and implement programs that support mental health and youth development; evaluate program effectiveness and recommend new initiatives or adjustments to meet evolving youth needs.
  • Create and distribute program materials, including brochures, calendars, and announcements; utilize social media and other platforms to maximize outreach and community engagement.
  • Monitor inventory and purchase authorized supplies and equipment necessary for program delivery.
  • Plan and prepare daily lunches and after-school snacks in collaboration with community volunteers.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of youth, providing immediate support or referrals for mental health concerns as needed. Report any issues to your supervisor promptly.
  • Oversee youth participating in court-supervised community service hours, ensuring compliance with court requirements and providing mentorship and support.
  • Support YIP Case Manager in managing YIP caseloads, providing case management support, including assessments, service coordination, follow-up to ensure youth receive the necessary services, and other administrative tasks as required
  • Foster an environment that promotes self-esteem, resilience, and positive mental health.
  • Encourage youth participation in community activities and provide guidance on accessing mental health resources.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Job-Related Skills and Training

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Psychology.
  • Experience in planning and facilitating workshops and activities for youth, particularly in areas related to mental health support.
  • Experience in case management, including assessing needs, coordinating services, and tracking progress.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification is an asset
  • Strong project coordination, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of youth mental health issues and experience providing support.
  • A strong understanding of youth advocacy that demonstrates a commitment to the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Experience working with youth in a court-supervised context is an asset.

Job Specifications / Qualifications

  • University or college degree in a related field.
  • Experience working directly with youth, especially in a supportive or mental health capacity.
  • Experience in case management or familiarity with case management practices.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Experience working with social service agencies is an asset.

Terms of Employment

  • Start Date: Immediately
  • This is a full-time contract position; 35 hours per week; Monday-Friday; with the ability to work remote at the direction of the Acting Executive Director
  • Salary: $22 per hour paid 4% in lieu of vacation contract (September - Dec 2024)
  • Location: 299 Main Street, Picton, ON
