If you're passionate about innovation, community impact, and a rewarding career, explore opportunities with us!*This role is eligible for remote workWhat this role is all about:Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Enterprise Risk, the Risk Management Specialist plays a key role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the credit union’s enterprise risk management program and contributes to an overall superior member experience by ensuring the credit union has effective policies and procedures, risk management tools, and monitoring mechanisms that promote adherence to the credit union’s risk appetite. The incumbent applies research, industry best practices, stakeholder input and collaborative project management skills to develop progressive, accurate and clear documents pertaining to all aspects of the Credit Union’s operations to aid in provision of service excellence to all Credit Union members. This is a remote role and may require travel in the rare instance where an on-site risk assessment is required. What you’ll do: Promotes and supports a positive risk management culture at the credit union while collaborating with applicable internal stakeholder groups and subject matter experts from all lines of business, fostering the appropriate overall level of risk maturity through the execution of the rolling Risk Maturity Roadmap.Contributes to the maintenance, development and reporting of the credit union’s outsourcing and third-party monitoring policies and program and risk register; communicates and monitors the credit union’s established risk appetite and corresponding risk tolerances.Analyzes and monitors risk processes to identify areas for improvement and remediation by business lines to support a sound operational environment.Supports the credit union’s stress testing regime with key insights and validation of assumptions and approach; conducts regular assessments and reports results, gaps, and recommendations to management.Contributes to the maintenance, development and reporting of the credit union’s foundational frameworks: Enterprise Risk Framework, Operational Risk Management Framework, IT Risk Governance Framework, and Regulatory Compliance Risk Framework as well as the Credit Union’s Business Continuity Planning, Disaster Recovery Planning, and Incident Response.Utilizes principles of enterprise risk management to support effective practices credit union wide, ensuring all regulatory and legislative changes are incorporated and followed as necessary; supports the response to regulatory guidance from various regulators.Partners with other departments and teams on collaborative projects and tasks on a variety of topics from inception to implementation and rollout, including contributing to the development of associated training programs when required. A little about your qualifications: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related discipline5+ years’ related experience with knowledge of banking processes and regulationsSound knowledge of risk management processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling a Credit Union's exposure to risksAn equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate.
