In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Manager, the Regional Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Regional Eating Disorders Program. Providing leadership to the multidisciplinary team, this position coordinates and facilitates daily clinical activities, ensuring effective use of resources. Acts as a communication liaison between members of the multidisciplinary team, Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) services, community partners, acute and tertiary care as well as the Provincial Eating Disorders Network. Supervises and evaluates staff, provides leadership and functions as a role model and coach to assist staff with professional development and achievement of service/program goals. Takes a long range view of operations and patient/client service delivery and follows through on issues that impact on the overall quality of patient/client care provided. Develops policies and procedures/standards for operationalizing patient/client care at the service level, ensuring evidence based practice. Contributes to monitoring and development of the operating plan. Provides leadership within the service for quality and risk management activities. Engages in program and community development when appropriate and directed. Participates on local and provincial committees and planning bodies. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia. Bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a major in dietetics/nutrition or equivalent. Five (5) to seven (7) years recent related experience in eating disorders, including two (2) years of leadership experience and 2 years clinical experience working with individuals and families in community and/or hospital setting. Knowledge of eating disorder theory, available programs and services, their interrelationships and their function in delivering care in the community. Valid B.C. Driver's license. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Skills And Abilities - Demonstrated clinical knowledge in the area of Eating Disorders. - Demonstrated ability to implement current developments in the field of eating disorders. - Demonstrated ability to teach and facilitate learning to staff, clients and families, and the community. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with team members, family and the public. - Knowledge of care delivery systems, treatment methodologies and an ability to apply this knowledge to practice. - Proven and demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills. - Ability to supervise and effectively manage human resources. - Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize own work and that of others. - Ability to effectively manage services within available resources including the ability to develop, audit and manage budgets. - Ability to use a collaborative approach to problem solving supported by an overall systems approach. - Ability to effectively employ human relation skills including conflict resolution. - Ability to contribute to the profession and the organizational vision as it pertains to clinical practice, service delivery and organizational development. - Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbal/written). - Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills. - Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice and lifelong learning. - Demonstrated ability to facilitate change. - Ability to operate related equipment. - Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
