Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Community & Event Development Coordinator, performs and carries out some supervisory tasks and responsibilities as necessary to the Splash Pad, Skating Rink, Water Garden Pavilion and Baggage Building Arts Centre at Prince Arthur’s Landing. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the day to day operation of the Prince Arthur’s Landing Skate/Splash Pad, Water Garden Pavilion, and Baggage Building Arts Centre and ensures there is adequate staffing to run day to day operations.Trains staff, assigns work schedules, and ensures Corporate policies are followed.Assists in the orientation and training of staff.Opens and closes facilities as per procedures.Monitors shift changes and plans work for staff.Monitors Mariner’s Hall rentals and communicate needs with staff.Responsible for inventory of supplies to run the day to day operations. Communicates and notes repairs that need to be made to the facilities and coordinates with Community & Event Development Coordinator. Maintains safe facilities for program participants, groups, and volunteers.Provides direction and assistance with room set up as required. Responsible for lock-up of equipment.Performs public relations functions, including handling inquiries, complaints, conducting facility tours, providing information relating to facility programs and services and general facility information.Administers first aid as required, responds to emergency situations and completes the necessary forms relating to unusual events/incidents/accidents; reports same to Supervisor.Performs the duties of the Facility Attendant as required.Performs back-up duties for the Community & Event Development Coordinator as required.Performs other related duties as may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience:Secondary school graduationExperience working with and supervising staff and volunteersSkills/Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writingMust have good customer service skills and be courteous and tactful in dealing with the publicAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a teamMust possess the ability to direct, instruct, and work with facility staffSelf-starter with proven organization skills and the ability to problem-solveMust be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet softwareMust be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Assets:Some post-secondary education and/or experience in business, recreation or culturePrevious customer service experience working with members of the publicInterest in Recreation & CultureVolunteer Management ExperienceCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Will be required to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays and on call hours if required.
