Your Opportunity:As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Operating Room Technician (Licensed Practical Nurse) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Decisions are made in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. This position provides a challenging experience in the services of Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Surgery & Devices, Organ Transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) as well as various other innovative procedures. The incumbent will work with patients during perioperative phases of care and must demonstrate the ability to perform scrubbing and circulating duties in a surgical environment.Description: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications: Post- Grad Perioperative Certification required. OR Completion of a CLPNA approved perioperative course. Specific advanced authorization from CLPNA to practice in the Operating Room is required. Demonstrated excellent assessment, organizational, and patient care skills. Ability to communicate findings in a concise and accurate manner. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Perioperative Nursing course required.Preferred Qualifications: As Required.
