Ward Clerk - Inpatient (Med/Surg/CCC & Med/Surg) Permanent Part-time

Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.     ROLE   As a Ward Clerk at Muskoka Algonquin Health c are you will;   Answer phones calls. Book ambulatory care/outpatient appointments. Organize charts for admissions and discharge. Ability to differentiate between content requirements for operative procedures, medical charts, CCU charts, long-term care charts, and other specialty charts. Book tests, appointments, and consultations with other facilities and make all necessary arrangements for patient to attend appointment. Access and arrange patient transfers between facilities using PTAC (Provincial Transfer Authorization Center).     REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)    Secondary school diploma. Successful completion of Medical Terminology Course.     REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)   Computer knowledge. Previous experience in a health care setting. Effective verbal and written communication skills, telephone communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work co-operatively with all staff members. Ability to work collaboratively or as part of a team. Demonstrate effective time management skills and initiative. Ability to assess information and deal with the information expediently and in a responsible manner. Continual concentrated learning on the job or elsewhere. Ability to multi-task in high pressure, ever-changing, noisy, fast-paced environment. Adhere to strict confidentially rules. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.     Conditions of employment for external hires includes; Proof of immunization and vaccination records to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.   Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
