JOB DESCRIPTION The Electrical/Controls Engineer will be part of a team that provides engineering and automation solutions to our industrial based clients in a professional manner that is client-driven and responsive. The Electrical/Controls Engineer will undertake EIC system design and programming for their clients. Client applications and technologies are continuously changing, so the work will be challenging and dynamic, often working within tight deadlines. The work will be determined according to client parameters, needs and expectations meeting current electrical codes and requirements. The work will be completed in office or in the field at the customer’s location as required.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position will perform a variation of the following duties, depending on operational needs, customer needs, project requirements:EIC engineering and design for greenfield and existing industrial applications.Use standard engineering tools and software to validate electrical systems.Use AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical to produce design drawings and make changes to drawings.Develop electrical schematics per ULA and CEC standards, panel layouts and BOMs for custom control panels, create drawing sets from scratch using existing company templates.Develop equipment and instrument list, select appropriate equipment per customer specifications and client standards. Generate PLC IO list and PLC rack layouts.Develop network topology drawings and design network panels.Design safety systems, ability to produce safety architecture drawings and wiring diagrams.Develop single line diagrams, sizing circuit breakers, cables and VFDs, load demand calculations.Lighting and emergency lighting design, perform simulations and develop drawings.Write technical documentation to support design activities and document work plans and work performed.Experience interpreting specifications, ensure compliance to company standards and client requirements, provide feedback in the event procedure changes become necessary.Correspond with electrical fabrication shops and electrical contractors.Inspect electrical components during and after installation, perform FAT testing in-house and occasionally at remote locations. Perform supervision and commissioning services at the client site as needed as per the commissioning schedule which will occasionally require work to be completed after hours, on weekends, and on statutory holidays from time to time.
