PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST / SENIOR BUYER

We are seeking a Procurement Specialist / Senior Buyer to work with our manufacturing team at our Seating Division located in Kitchener, reporting to our Director, Supply Chain.

This position is on-site and is responsible for day-to-day ordering using ROP, develop commodity strategies, qualify vendors, initiate & evaluate quotations, work with vendors to solve performance and pricing issues. Plays a critical role in driving cost savings. Negotiates and implements long-term purchasing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • The planning, execution and timely receipt of purchased parts and to Krug quality standards.
  • Frequent and detailed analysis of safety stock levels and Reorder points
  • Constantly focused on Cost reduction using any method that would reduce costs while maintaining quality, service and on-time delivery
  • Minimize on hand inventory and increase inventory turns
  • Utilizes MRP technique to better define the EOQ
  • Maintain trackers for open & past due orders, perform GAP Analysis, maintain weekly shortage report and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Pre-clears orders from CSR’s (APPs requests)
  • Strategize buying options to reap best results for Krug.
  • Reports on PPV and focuses on elimination of PPV
  • Reviews & Reports on Critical Supplier OTP and Quality rating each month
  • Strive to decrease lead-time from suppliers
  • Initiates RIN’s where required as per ISO policy
  • DMR management: Submits DMR’s to supplier with support (pictures etc.). Responsible for obtaining the disposition of defective material. Closes all DMR’s with root cause and corrective action and logs on DMR summary. Ensures Vendor covers all costs where responsible.
  • Proficient in offshore buying, Optimizes in-bound freight costs. Reduces expedited shipment costs.
  • Evaluates FPR’s and pursues corrective action and reimbursement of consequential costs from suppliers where applicable
  • Strives to eliminate or closely manage single-source situations – ensures back up supply for all suppliers
  • Maintains item master accuracy
  • Strives to eliminate low-use parts.
  • Keeps abreast of market conditions and commodity pricing as it relates to purchased part costs
  • Constantly researches and investigates new sources of supply working to build a large base of qualified suppliers.
  • Makes recommendation for discontinuation for low selling items
  • Strategize obsolescence, disposition of obsolete material

New Product Development

  • Set up planner, codes MOQ and relevant details on New Product parts.
  • Orders samples / Mini Runs as requested by Engineering and Product Design
  • Tracks sample & Mini Run orders and expedites
  • Constantly focused on cost
  • Aggressively works to meet deadlines

OTHER

  • Aggressively pursues alternate sources for delinquent suppliers
  • Responsible for ensuring competent cross-training for the position
  • Carries out all tasks and services in accordance with ISO policies
  • Carries out all responsibilities and negotiations in an ethical and professional manner
  • Maintains cooperative and ethical working relationship with suppliers

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Materials or related courses, (CPP, CPIM or working towards)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet)
  • Principals Of Buying (PMAC)
  • MRPII training (in house or community college)
  • PDMain and RR6 training (in house or other)
  • Highly organized skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • 5-10 years purchasing experience
