Plant Maintenance Engineer/Manager

Our client located in the GTA West, is seeking to hire an experienced Maintenance Manager/Leader to oversee the maintenance operations in a baked goods manufacturing facility. As the Maintenance Manager/Leader, you will be support a significant plant expansion and be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning of all plant equipment, machinery, and facilities to meet production requirements while maintaining a safe working environment and safety-first culture.

Job Duties Include:

  • Manage and supervise a team of 15 people (salaried & hourly), maintenance staff
  • Act as a coach and mentor to the plant maintenance team and personnel
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure optimal equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and facilities to identify potential issues and address them proactively within a 3 shift (24/7, 365 days/Yr, operation
  • Support significant plant expansion activities and related capital expenditures
  • Oversee the maintenance function within an approx. 200,000 sq/ft manufacturing facility
  • Track and report on expansion plan key milestones back to the senior leadership team
  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to baked goods facility maintenance to ensure compliance and continuous improvement
  • Monitor and manage the maintenance budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities while ensuring the quality and effectiveness of maintenance operations
  • Maintain a safety-first plant culture ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to industry standards and regulations
  • This is an on-site role

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred
  • 7-10 years' prior CPG, Bakery Mfg. experience is a must
  • Prior experience supporting significant capital expansion, plant improvements
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager in a baked goods production environment
  • Strong knowledge of baked goods manufacturing equipment, machinery, and systems
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance principles and practices
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and empower the maintenance team
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
