How You Will Make an Impact

Reporting to the Nurse Coordinator and the Executive Director, the role involves overseeing activity programming at designated sites, incorporating intergenerational program components as available, managing volunteer recruitment, retention, rewards, and reviews, as well as supervising delegated students and program staff.

  • Implement Standardized Leisure Assessments including Chart Review from other disciplines including recreation.
  • Develop Goals and Treatment Plan
  • Evaluate and document on an ongoing basis as per SAM standard.
  • Develop Activity Program and communicate plan to staff weekly and daily.
  • Document all new activities and forward to the SAM Administration Office.
  • Coordinate and supervise implementation of Activity Plan.
  • Lead activities, facilitate client participation and report changes in client's level of ability.
  • Manage annual activity program budget and purchase program supplies as approved.
  • Develop, manage and implement Intergenerational Program component.
  • Collaboratively plan and implement Special Event activities.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living i.e. toileting, eating, transferring, walking, dressing, etc.
  • Participate in regular program evaluation and discipline/team specific work plans.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Diploma and/or Degree in recreation and Leisure Studies
  • Demonstrated interest/experience in working with seniors
  • Knowledge and experience in working with persons with dementia
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff, students and volunteers as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to work independently and supervise other staff and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement and Risk Management
  • First Aid/CPR Training
  • Pursuing/Maintaining registration with TRO
  • First Aid/ CPR training
