Project Control Lead

Position Overview:

Due to an increase in projects, our client, a well-established owner, is looking for a Project Controls Lead to join their team in the Vancouver, BC facility. This person would be required to relocate to Interior BC once the project moves into construction phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Project Controls leadership and support to the project teams
  • Lead the Project Controls team in consistent delivery of project controls services on a project basis
  • Support the Project Management team with project and program controls guidance
  • Develop, support and report on the Project Controls team’s fiscal objectives and growth of revenue
  • Review current project controls practices, systems and tools and recommend improvements based on industry knowledge of procedure standards
  • Review and assess client projects to implement project specific Project Controls Plans and the appropriate project controls team to conduct the work
  • Responsible for invoice review on project scopes.
  • Develop Project Master Baseline Schedules and put in place effective monitoring and control, whereby project completion is achieved on schedule
  • Responsible for project commitment authorization in advance of PO or contract awards, or any change orders impacting a PO or contract.
  • Responsible for developing project forecast information and maintaining the data in the cost management system.
  • Responsible for applying productivity performance and earned value measurement methodology in project analysis.

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience working in a Project Controls position for a Construction or Engineering Firm
  • Experience in overseeing the development of project work breakdown structures, cost estimation, scheduling and schedule analysis, budget development, reporting and record and document controls
  • Proficient with creating, developing, and managing schedules in Primavera P6
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and multi-task
  • Pleasant, calm demeanor and customer-service skills
  • Strong work ethic, ability to use tact and good professional judgement.
  • Experience managing teams of interdisciplinary skill sets
  • Experience in both Study and Execution stages of projects is required.
  • Strong understanding of program controls concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
  • Experience using cost control software such as Unifier, PRISM or Cleopatra is considered an asset.
  • CPA, PEng or AScT registration considered an asset.
  • CCP, CEP, PMP or other similar designations considered an asset.
