Health and Safety Specialist

Health & Safety Specialist Our client is currently seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to join their team based in Dieppe, NB. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the Health & Safety Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and company standards. As the successful candidate you will facilitate engagement with relevant stakeholders and departments to foster a culture focused on prevention and leading indicator activities. Key responsibilities will include educating employees and managers on best practices in occupational health and safety, coordinating the implementation of policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with MPI standards and occupational health and safety laws. Additionally, you will conduct investigations related to incidents, track safety KPIs, analyze information, and prepare statistics for key performance indicators. Moreover, you will play a key role in coordinating the activities of Joint Health and Safety Committees as well as working with all relevant parties to ensure fair and timely processing of claims and successful return to work. The ideal candidate will possess a certified Occupational Health and Safety designation, such as CRSP, CHSC, CHSE, or equivalent, and/or 2 to 5 years' experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field. Experience in conducting Incident Investigations, Hazard Assessments, developing SOPs, and Safety Training Programs would be considered an asset. Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills are essential, along with proficiency in using Microsoft products and online SDS management systems and incident reporting and tracking systems.Experience in an agricultural or manufacturing environment will be advantageous.
