Intermediate Infrastructure Support Specialist (1 year Fixed Term Contract)

Teranet is currently looking for an Intermediate Infrastructure Support Specialist for their Operations Services Team. You will provide operational services and technical support for computer systems controlled by the Data Centre. The team operates 24x7 out of 2 Data centre locations, Mississauga and North York. There will be 3 x 12.5 hour shifts per week on a 4 week rotation with shifts starting at 6:30AM and 6:30PM. Limited overtime and off-hours work may be required to support activities and projects outside normal operations. You must have valid driver’s license and be able to drive to assigned locations for scheduled shiftsWhat You’ll Be Doing Data Centre FacilitiesMonitor, control and report on site service technician(s) and hosted customer systems activities.Maintain Data Centre security in accordance with internal, PCI, COBIT and Government requirements.Lift/move material to support site duties such as receiving and racking of new server hardware.Server racking/removal including labelling and provisioning of power, LAN, SAN connections.Monitoring and scheduled inspections of facilities systems, server systems and escalation as required.Ensure the Data Centre machine room environment(s) are clean, documented, and presentable at all times. Systems and Operations AdministrationPreference given to individuals possessing current RedHat RHCSA or equivalent (e.g.: Solaris/AIX), Azure certifications.Ansible coding would be an asset.Deploying patches using BigFix.Monitor and respond to system and manually generated incidents and requests using the ServiceNow ITSM system.1st line support for all Data Centre based systems and applications to established SLAs.Escalation and monitoring of incidents impacting production systems ensuring resolution or hand-off. Execute and report on scheduled tasks in Remedy as required for daily operations and systems support.Operation of CommVault processes and media management. Investigate, resolve and/or escalate backup failures.Patching and basic admin of RHEL, Windows Server 2016/2019/2020 on VMWare ESX, Azure and physical servers.Patching and basic admin of IBM AIX LPAR and physical servers.A functional knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LDAP, and AD is required for basic troubleshooting and diagnosis.Project management of server builds and decommissions ensuring all tasks are resourced and executed correctly.Other duties as required, to support Teranet's evolving business deliverables.About YouUniversity Degree, College Diploma, or equivalent experience in the computing field4+ years in an administration/operations role in a 24x7 production data centre environment.Dependable, reliable performance under all circumstances with an eye on continuous improvement opportunities.Proactive with a take ownership approach to the facilities environment, systems, and service levels.Dealing with all system issues and user requests professionally and efficiently.Ability to exercise judgment and if necessary, justify and report actions taken.Advising supervisor of items requiring approval and/or outside person’s responsibility scope.Excellent Verbal skills and customer support to provide phone support to application, server teams and clients.Excellent Written communications skills required to document and report on day-to-day activities and new procedures.Ability to efficiently work independently or with individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.Working knowledge of and ability to execute and read/debug scripts written in bash and kshOperational experience with VMware ESX, Azure, Control-M, Spectrum would be an asset.Why TeranetWe may be a global innovator in electronic services and solutions who operate one of the most advanced and secure registration systems in the world, but we’re so much more than that!Our Extraordinary People.
