As a Before and After School Part Time Supply Educator you will :

  • Have a reliable means of personal transportation to travel to various program locations throughout Milton.
  • Work afternoons Monday to Friday from 2:30pm-6:00pm
  • Support the implementation of individual support plans for children with differing abilities.
  • Work in kindergarten and school age classrooms with children from 3.8 to 12 years old.

We’re looking for someone who :

  • Has experience with a variety of teaching techniques including modeling, active listening, and observing, questioning, demonstrating, and supporting children.
  • Can build upon the foundational knowledge of the “How Does Learning Happen? ” and “Think Feel Act” documents and the Developmental Relationships Framework.
  • Has experience developing and implementing an inquiry-based program following the Reggio Emilia philosophy guided by the interests of the child.
  • Can observe children for the purpose of creating learning opportunities that promote development within social, emotional, cognitive, language, sensory and physical domains.
  • Has experience working within child care programs and can fully support every age group and function within the program; this includes classrooms, cleaning and administrative tasks.

Every day, you will encourage purposeful play and build upon the interests of children by :

  • Creating warm, welcoming interactions that protect the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Creating an atmosphere which builds upon individual learning styles and celebrates the diverse perspectives of the children and their families to remove all barriers that may prevent acceptance and accessibility in the program.
  • Using your experience to support inclusion of children with behavioral challenges and differing abilities to foster their development, growth and success in the program and working collaboratively with their parents/caregivers and early childhood specialists.
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents, support workers and community service providers.
  • Establishing and following a daily flow of routines and transitions
  • Observing children for the purpose of creating learning opportunities that promote development within social, emotional, cognitive, language, sensory and physical domains.
  • Guiding and assisting children in the development and practice of problem-solving and self-help skills.
  • Committing to raising quality care indicators through participation in the Quality First model
  • Maintaining accurate daily records of attendance sheets, daily log books, accident reports and illness reports, medical forms, administration of medication forms, emergency procedures and actions and displaying in classroom as needed.
  • Being flexible to meet the changing situations and priorities of the program.
  • Setting up program space and supporting children within the program may require lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 35lbs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • A degree/diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Proof of registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR C certification from a WSIB approved training partner
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screen dated within past six months
  • Dated immunization records for MMR, DTP, Polio and 1 step TB test
  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19
  • Valid Safe Food Handling certification would be considered an asset.
