We are specialized in reinforcing steel and have participated in many high end projects like windmills, bridges, hospitals, sports complexes, commercial and residential buildings and many other types of infrastructures. We are activelly looking for a General Manager to lead our operations in British Columbia at our office in Port Coquitlam .

The General Manager has the overall management responsibilities of our operations in BC for AGF Rebar. As such, the General Manager is responsible for leading the operations, plant, and field teams. This person will develop, plan, implement and continuously improve business and operational strategies to ensure the division's growth and financial profitability. The General Manager will create a motivating and engaging teamwork environment throughout the entire branch to maximize employee satisfaction and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan and manage our activities in by developing and implementing business strategies in line with the company's goals and objectives;
  • Manage P&L and balance sheet performance by driving overall profitability, planning annual budgets and build sources of growth and value creation;
  • Develop short and long term plans, while measuring progress through reports, activities and KPI's to make sure targets and objectives are met or exceeded on an ongoing basis;
  • Plan and manage the overall operation’s team development and resource allocation;
  • Responsible for overseeing project management while providing leadership and strategic direction for the different stages of the projects;
  • Review project proposal or plan to validate time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of project;
  • Finalize sales, approve cost estimate and oversee projects budgets and schedules;
  • Responsible for overseeing key operational and logistical activities of the branches such as customer service, order processing, shipping and handling of material, transportation logistics, inventory control, purchasing of everyday supplies, placing activities on job sites and equipment maintenance;
  • Take active part in business development and selling efforts by building and maintain customer relationships;
  • Ensure strong internal communication between all departments of the business (operations, production, sales and finance);
  • Implement a culture of safety throughout the company by ensuring that safety policies and procedures as well as applicable health and safety laws and regulations are adhered to;
  • Ensure that employees receive proper and adequate training required by their occupations;
  • Create strong team spirit. Promote a friendly climate and cooperation;

Requirements:

  • Bachelor‘s Degree in Civil Engineering, Operations Managements, or Business Administration;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar managerial role in the construction industry;
  • Strategic management skills (planning, financial, analysis, project management);
  • Experience in rebar, infrastructure or pre-cast is a strong asset;
  • Strong leadership, team-building and managerial skills;
  • Great communicator and ability to multitask.
