As part of a dedicated team, this position performs work as it relates to grounds maintenance and interment services, while providing consideration and assistance to the families we serve.   Successful candidates will work from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday and may be required to adjust shifts as operationally required. The work is based entirely at Mountain View Cemetery.   Specific Duties & Responsibilities Under direct supervision, this position completes a variety of tasks which can include heavy physical effort andagility; interment services, marker foundation installation, grave marker placement, landscaping, general turf care,project work, and performing other related Cemetery duties as assigned. Successful candidates must have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform heavy physical labour; ability to lift, push and pull heavy objects; ability to walk or stand continuously with frequent bending ortwisting; ability to work close to moving machinery and in high traffic areas; ability to work on ladders, ability towork outside in all weather conditions, and on uneven surfaces; ability to use a variety of tools and equipment.   Qualifications Education and Experience: Completion of high school or equivalent combination of training and work experience. Experience in landscape maintenance or cemetery maintenance. Valid BC Class 5 driver's license is required.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of safe work procedures. Sound knowledge of the tools, material and equipment used in the work. Some knowledge of construction and landscape maintenance tasks. Some knowledge of the functions of a cemetery and the established practices in carrying out the work. Ability to exercise some independence of judgment and action in the routine or simple aspects of thework. Ability to courteously answer questions and deal with the public. The necessary tact and demeanour appropriate for a cemetery. Skill in the use of a variety of tools and equipment used in landscape construction and maintenance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
