System Architect

Our client, one of the leading providers in the Defence industry is looking to hire a System Architect to their team. This is a permanent role located in Ottawa and is an onsite role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop top level SoS System Views for the CDMN and LCSS networks.
  • Provide guidance on the application of the architecture framework.
  • Ensure the design thinking defined in the framework is understood and applied.
  • Ensure that sub-system views are documented in accordance with the DND Architecture Framework standard and support other System Architects with documentation activities.
  • Provide guidance to the Chief Engineer on what views are of value and should be developed within the Land C4ISR ecosystem.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Business Analyst, ensure that the System Architecture is aligned with the CDMN/LCSS Operational Architecture, Operational Requirements and Concept of Operations.
  • Highlight any gaps or deficiencies of the System Architecture with respect to the Operational artifacts and provide recommendations to the Chief Engineer on corrective or mitigation measures.
  • Ensure the System Architecture is maintained across Land Command Systems Program as operational artifacts change and perform any other work related to this category.

Required Skills:

  • Proof of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) master’s degree in network, software, computer, systems, electrical, or a suitable engineering or technical field required to support Land C4ISR.
  • Must have demonstrated Professional Engineer License within Canada.
  • Experience as a System Architect on Military Command and Control Communication and Information systems or ISTAR systems.
  • Communicating system engineering direction for projects or systems.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision-making of senior management.
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams in the development of IT tactical systems, frameworks, or strategies.
  • Developing architecture in one or more of the following areas:
  • System-of-Systems level architecture for C4ISR systems.
  • ISTAR System level architecture for Military
  • C4ISR systems; and/or data architecture definition and implementation for C4ISR systems or similar systems.
  • Command and control communication and information systems within a client/server environment.
  • Military ISTAR systems.
  • Joint or Allied C4ISR Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements; and System management solutions (tools and processes) for communication & information systems and/or ISTAR systems.
  • Joint or Allied C4ISR Interoperability solutions using NATO Standardization Agreements; and 5. System management solutions (tools and processes) for communication & information systems and/or ISTAR systems.

Clearances:

  • Must qualify for Federal Government NATO Secret and Controlled Goods clearances.
  • Copies of Degree/Diploma/Certifications will be required.
