Job SummaryThe Digital Experience/UX Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing high quality user (, patient/client/employee/citizen/stakeholder) experiences on NL Health Services digital properties. Working in a team environment, this position helps to execute the organization's digital communications strategy and aims to ensure that patients, clients and families can easily access health information and services through digital platforms. This position relies on user research, consultation methods and communication best-practices to understand users' communications needs, preferences and expectations with the goal to recommend and implement engaging digital solutions. The incumbent will coordinate and conduct usability testing, identify usability requirements, develop information architecture systems, guide and create visual user interfaces and continuously evaluate digital experiences for improvement. The Digital Experience/UX Specialist understands and works to integrate data into informative data visualization/indicator dashboards to enrich digital experiences that provide valuable insights for health providers and patients, clients and families. The specialist also works to present health and service delivery information in a compelling digital manner, using accessible and inclusive design and staying abreast of emerging technologies.Using people-centered principles, guided by NL Health Services' branding standards and applying project management methods, the Digital Experience/UX Specialist works collaboratively with clinical and corporate programs, communication, IT, creative and other cross-functional teams, vendors and partners to achieve results.Working closely with the Digital Communications Manager and reporting to the Senior Director of Provincial Digital Strategy, other duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners to understand user needs and organizational objectives; analyze user feedback to inform design decisions; develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows to effectively communicate design ideas; create and maintain a consistent and intuitive user interface across digital platforms in alignment with NL Health Services brand; implement best practices in digital communications, user experience (UX) design, information architecture, and interaction design; work closely with developers to ensure seamless integration of content, data and design elements; perform front-end coding; manage digital assets; stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve digital experiences with the goal to enhance communication and information-sharing for the public. Job QualificationsEducationA Bachelor's degree with a focus on website design/development, user interface design, digital communications, information technology, or computer engineering complemented with design, or related area is required.Membership and/or affiliation with relevant professional associations may be an asset (,the Design Professionals of Canada (DesCan), International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). ExperienceA minimum three to five (5) years' experience designing and developing digital/web and user interfaces within a multi-stakeholder professional environment is required. Significant experience with user experience (UX) writing and design.Experience with project management would be a strong asset.Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)Excellent communication and organizational skills and demonstrated superior knowledge of industry standards and current IT Technologies.Knowledge of web development and one or more programming languages.Knowledge of visual principles and design software. Functional understanding of coding and transferring the brand's identity seamlessly throughout the interface of a digital solution or service.Ability to iterate work output based on feedback.Knowledge and application of research, analysis, quality assurance processes and methods.Ability to identify key performance indicators, gather, analyze and report metrics and usage data.OtherA satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.Ability to work outside of regular working hours and to travel to other sites as required.Submission of a portfolio/sample of work is required. A writing test may also be administered as part of the interview process. Other combination of qualifications may be considered.
