Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Assets & Maintenance the HVAC Journeyman/Journeywoman/Journeyperson is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a fully integrated heavy-duty commercial HVAC and Refrigeration system in our indoor cultivation facility in Atholville, New Brunswick. Working on a variety of equipment, the successful candidate must ensure that high quality workmanship and compliance with HVAC/Irrigation standards is maintained while following safety and industry protocols. Our HVAC team supports a number of unique indoor growing environments, ensuring that cultivation-required setpoints are capable of being met.

Reporting Relationships and Contacts

  • Reports to: Manager, Assets & Maintenance
  • Internal Relationships: HVAC Technicians, Maintenance Team, Environment Team
  • External Relationships: External vendors and suppliers, site contractors

Scope of Role

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a fully integrated heavy-duty commercial HVAC and Refrigeration system
  • Respond to and perform emergency and preventative maintenance
  • Provide technical support and guidance to a team of HVAC Technicians
  • Maintain a visible and engaged presence on site and act as a leader in safety
  • Assist in all construction activities
  • Prepare and set up tools for each day’s use
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications
  • Load and unload HVAC materials, and move materials to work areas
  • Ensure worksite is kept clean and orderly
  • Work efficiently, responsibly, and professionally and maintain positive relationships with project stakeholders and employees on site
  • Mentor and guide HVAC apprentices
  • Work/collaborate with the Maintenance and Production teams to achieve facility needs, goals and upgrades related to HVAC, or other tasks as required
  • Perform other activities outside of HVAC, as directed

Knowledge and Experience

  • Journeyman Certified HVAC Refrigeration Mechanic (Red Seal)
  • Minimum 1 of year of Journeyman experience in commercial service
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
  • Understand New Brunswick Building Code/HVAC Regulations

  • Team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to stand, crouch and kneel for extended periods of time
  • Basic computer skills, navigate work order/ticket management system
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Must have prior experience in Commercial Refrigeration, DHU, AHU systems.
