Description Reporting to the Business Centre Manager, the Operations Manager will work and oversee operations at the Business center(s).KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:Works with warehouse operations staff with a strong focus on process improvement to improve efficiencies to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets are met;Works with warehouse operations staff to identify and implement strategies that will reduce operating costs through our Continuous Improvement (CI) lean six sigma techniques;Ensures that all tasks and duties in the warehouse operations are performed in accordance with Worksafe BC and the ministry of labour to prevent workplace injuries;MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Creates, establishes, manages and communicates KPI progress within the warehouse operations and makes necessary adjustments as required in order to meet productivity and reduction of waste targets;Creates a continuous improvement (CI) culture within our warehouse operations through regular employee discussions, huddles, announcement boards, employee feedback and communication of all CI changes;Strong focus on process improvement (PI) in our warehouse operations and ensuring PI projects are being worked on regularly and in a timely manner and being a support function to staff from inception to implementation;Ensuring projects are being managed by putting lean six-sigma techniques into practice: Team, scope of project, current state process mapping finding & data, solutions and implementation strategy, and audit strategy;Ensure all PI projects include a variety of staff from different departments;Provides guidance and support by coaching team of lead hands;Manages Abbotsford branch health & safety program; monthly meetings, inspections with corresponding documents uploaded on our NCSI online portal;Manages inspections, maintenance, and upgrades of all operations equipment;Creates and updates standard operating procedures in each department as our business evolves;Freight management: manages freight costs for inbound & outbound shipments . Looks at ways to improve our freight costs and efficiencies and develops and maintains strong relationships with carrier partners;Supports inventory control associate with cycle counting in our Abbotsford branch through the deployment of staff to perform all physical counts in the warehouse;Maintain a system of effective communication between Sales, Purchasing and Administration leaders so that all parties are regularly updated with opportunities and challenges along with capacity outputs;Works with administrative team and payroll by keeping track and managing headcount in the warehouse;Keep open line of communication with BCM on all significant successes and challenges;Collaborates and communicates with BCM on all expenses with a financial impact over $5,000;Participates in a bi-weekly BCM manager’s call;Participates a bi-weekly Operations, Sales, and Administrative meeting with all key stakeholders;Quarterbacks a regular meeting with direct reports with a focus on CI;Ensures we hire the best talent through diligent resume reviews and in person interviews;Manage onboarding and orientation for all new operations employees;Performs any other duties as required by BCM;REQUIREMENTS:Minimum ten (10) years of industry experience preferable, or a combination of relevant experience and education;Six Sigma Black Belt or working towards is preferredServant leadership mentalityUnderstanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management;Excellent communication skills;High level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills;Ability to build relationships among managers, employees, and partners;Ability to address problems and capitalize on opportunities for the company;Energetic and positive attitude, dependable, organized and deadline-oriented;Stress tolerant;Advanced computer skills and knowledgeWhat’s in it for youWe are a major player, involved in the energy transformation in Canada.
