Reporting to the General Manager with a matrix reporitng to the Director of Sales and working from our Port Moody office, the Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales performance on both Original Equipment and Aftermarket Orders for Municipal, Private, Institutional and Major Events Center Arena Operations, within an assigned territory. The Sales Representative will be prospecting and calling on municipal purchasers, architects, ice rink and sport facility consultants, general contractors, gym, fitness and rink / arena operators and owners in the territory; through regular sales presentations, product demonstrations, plant visits, etc., ensure the features and benefits of the products we offer are known and understood by these key influencers and decision makers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Presenting the most current Company product spec document, and by working with these key influencers and decision makers, assist in the creation of bid specs that include the product features suitable for the specific project needs, which should help drive the bids toward our products.
  • Where the specs are not inclusive of our products when a tender is let, contact the person responsible (purchaser, architect, owner) and make a case for our products to be considered as acceptable to bid or at the least an acceptable alternate.
  • Follow up immediately and thoroughly after bids are in: find out who won the bid, which dasher board (or other product we quoted) was carried, plus all other pertinent data (e.g., were there any unqualified or non-conforming bids? If so, what is the status of the tender? ). Report back to sales management the summary of bid results. Negotiate with customers to land the sale, using the assistance of others on the Company team as needed.
  • Call on hockey arenas and other sports facilities to drive aftermarket (Arena Services) sales; to build company and rep profile, and to accumulate market intelligence about the industry in general and specifically about new sales opportunities.
  • Follow up on all sales leads whether self-generated or obtained from other sources
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, prepare estimate packages, and produce proposal schedules and associated documents, complete site measurement and reviews as required.
  • Collaborate with Project Management team to ensure all bids tendered are complete and conform to Tender documents and Company Policies and Procedures
  • Assist Project Management teams as needed with the process of estimating and quoting.
  • Work trade shows as required by the company. Some travel will be required.
  • Minimum post-secondary diploma/degree in athletics, business, or related technical discipline with extensive technical, administrative, and sales/customer service experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive project management experience directing engineering or technical operations in a manufacturing/installation environment.
  • Advanced computer skills required (Microsoft Office / Windows / CRM Software)
  • Prior exposure to athletic sales, engineering, and construction project management audiences would be beneficial.
  • Strong leadership ability to lead and close customer orders
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written in English.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a strong sense of initiative.
  • Evaluated based on attainment of objectives critical to the company’s success.
  • Provides administrative and professional direction as a consultant provides and guidance to top management, executives, and officers.
  • Regular interactions with other functional department staff heads and internal stakeholders, as well as external relationships with suppliers, customers, sales, and distribution colleagues are required.
  • Makes significant decisions on all matters under area of responsibility according to budget, strategy, and within established Delegation of Authority limits.
  • Exercises independent judgment in solving customer issues, creatively and collaboratively, and within budget.
  • Escalates issues with significant risk and impact to the business to senior management.

Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
