Job Description Communications Consultant – CommunicationsPosition Summary:As part of Mackenzie Health’s Communications and Public Affairs Team, the Communications Consultant is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of effective communications and public affairs plans and materials to support the operational and strategic needs of Mackenzie Health and the Western York Region Ontario Health Team (WYR-OHT). This includes the delivery of communications support to internal programs and departments as well as external communications efforts to build awareness and support for Mackenzie Health, its two-hospital model of care and network of community-based services as well as the WYR-OHT.Contribute to safe, quality care by:Developing and implementing internal and external communications plans, demonstrating strong organizational and project coordination skillsProviding communications support and counsel to a portfolio of internal departments, working to proactively identify communications needs whenever possible and using a collaborative approach that keeps stakeholders involved and informed throughout the processSupport communications efforts for the Western York Region Ontario Health Team, including development and execution of communication strategies, social media support and community engagement planning.Editorial planning and developing content for print, broadcast and digital communications – including Mackenzie Health’s intranet and weekly e-newsletter – that is tailored to the audience, easy to understand and capture’s the reader’s attentionPhotography and print coordination as well as distribution of hospital and WYR-OHT publications and print materials as assignedResults reporting for communications channels and tactics, with recommendations for enhancement based on benchmarking and best practicesPlanning and coordination of corporate events including logistics, promotion, agenda development and speaker notes, working alongside members of the Communications and Public Affairs teamEditing/vetting of materials to ensure consistency of brand messaging, tone and design standard.What must you have? University degree or college diploma or post-graduate certificate in communications, public relations or related field with minimum three years of working experience.What else do you bring? Excellent written and verbal communications skills – health care communications experience an assetAbility to meet the challenges of working in a fast-paced, high profile, deadline-oriented environment as part of a high performing communications and public affairs teamExperience in the development of communications plans in support of corporate initiatives including setting measurable goals and objectives, identifying appropriate communications deliverables and tactics, developing key messages and strategies, implementation timelines and budgetsStrong communications, project management, presentation and meeting facilitation skillsExperience in the planning and coordination of corporate events including logistics, marketing promotion, program and speaker notes development and speaker preparation and coordinationStrong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders/partnersDemonstrated experience in effective content development for print, broadcast and digital communicationsHighly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookMedia relations experience considered an assetProven attendance recordDemonstrates understanding of, and compliance with, patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for allAbility to perform the essential duties of the jobEffectively uses empathy in interactions with othersDemonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to CaringModels behaviour that is aligned with the values of Mackenzie Health – Excellence, Leadership and EmpathyCommitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environmentThis role is part of a hybrid working model and based out of Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital
