Utility Locator

Utility and Private Utility Locator/ Damage Prevention Technician will be responsible for performing utility locates for gas, telephone, water, hydro and telecom. Locates are self-performed for Clarke Construction crews as a subcontractor with the dedicated locate model.

Duties :

• Locate underground utilities accurately using utility mapping systems and electronic locating equipment
• Understand and respond to work requests delegated by Supervisor
• Knowledge of manipulating utility records
• Ability to effectively document utility locates and follow appropriate documentation procedure
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Locate industry preferable.
• Current ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician Certificate (3 or more utilities).
• Experience with private locates, pre-eng locates and locates of sewers considered an asset
• Strong computer skills
• MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Self motivated: ability to work independently on timelines and stay productive under mínimal supervision
• Ability to work accurately and problem solve under pressure
• Strong communication skills: ability to interact with customers in a professional manner
• Willingness to work flexible and/or long hours when required to meet deadlines
