POSITION SUMMARY

Accountable for coordination, and performance of test and field activities at customer sites, and various test facilities as required. Writes and electronically files test reports. Provides support to product development or root cause failure investigations, recommending corrective actions and responsibility for Production Engineers to resolve and release design improvements. Supports Customer Service to investigate and test problems in the field and finding solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Perform Customer Compliances test and write reports
  • Ensures that engineering designs and design changes are analyzed and tested to meet Industry and MCI/NFI standards
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts field tests in support of Engineering, NPD, and Customer Service initiatives.
  • Completes test reports in a timely manner and with a high level of integrity.
  • Instruments test vehicles and components, collects data, and issues reports in support of test initiatives.
  • Supervises and coordinates certification tests and other testing as required.
  • Maintain, and keep in calibration, all test equipment in possession.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and field tests engineering and customer problems.
  • Reviews testing plans with group leader for priorities and schedule attainment.
  • Provides engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and other departments as required.
  • Interacts with suppliers and customers on design related issues and tests.
  • Works closely with NPD Engineers and Production Engineers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical engineering field
  • Engineering Applications, Product Test Experience, and Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake is a plus
  • Data loggers, sensors, transducers, and other instruments related to vehicle electrical, propulsion, accessory, and structural systems
  • Test management, writing test plans and test reports, plus troubleshooting vehicle, equipment, and instrumentation
  • Some troubleshooting, modification, instrumentation
