Langford Vets’ Small Animal Hospital, the teaching hospital for Bristol University, has an exciting opportunity for a boarded or board eligible specialist in Cardiology to join our team. Full time, part time, or flexible working patterns would all be open for discussion depending on the applicant. This opportunity offers the benefit of working within a large, modern, multi-disciplinary referral hospital with state-of-the-art equipment and enthusiastic and forward-thinking colleagues in a beautiful area of the UK. Our Cardiology Service is well established with a broad and interesting caseload, including a strong interventional case load. We have a GE Vivid E95 that has 4D capabilities, a transoesophageal probe with 4D capabilities for interventions, a GE Vivid iq and an EchoPAC workstation. We work closely with other services within the hospital, including anaesthesia, critical care, diagnostic imaging, neurology, medicine, oncology, dermatology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, behaviour and rehabilitation as well as an on-site diagnostic laboratory to provide exceptional patient care. We pride ourselves in training – we have an ACVIM residency training program and are currently training two residents. We have rotating interns working with the Cardiology team, and final year veterinary students spend one week of their rotations working alongside us. Informal clinical teaching of students and interns, as well as participation in teaching sessions for residents is expected. There would also be support available for a successful candidate to be involved in CPD training of vets and nurses. Our team has a strong background in research, and there would be opportunities for the successful candidate to undertake or be involved in research projects. Off clinics time is offered to support both teaching and research opportunities. The hospital is located in North Somerset, an area of exceptional beauty with easy access to climbing, walking, mountain biking and water sports. We are 20 minutes outside cosmopolitan Bristol for city lovers. A veterinary qualification that can be registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons is essential. The ideal candidate must have experience of and enthusiasm for teaching and be a Diplomate of the European or American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology), or residency trained.
