PRODUCTION MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to lead our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 – 15 years of overall experience including 5 years’ experience as a production manager in a custom manufacturing environment. The candidate must also be knowledgeable in lean manufacturing principles. Strong teamwork and leadership skills are essential for this role. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), production scheduling, preventative maintenance, workforce management, performance management, and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate role-model behaviors and lead and manage the production team, providing guidance and support as needed while ensure safety, quality, cost and delivery performance.
  • Execute layout and production work orders are completed on-time and in full while ensuring highest quality standards
  • Monitor and report on production progress to stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate production risks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Controls and efficiently utilizes production capacity, manpower and equipment through planning, organizing, and scheduling to minimize wastes and downtime

Take corrective and preventative action in situations requiring immediate intervention, including interpretation of company policies, OHSA /safety, labour, customer and quality issues.

Perform any hands-on or administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including selection and development of employees, budget administration, employee safety, department goals and objectives and planning, and monitoring and reporting on KPIs

Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.

Provide leadership and supervision to staff by hiring, reviewing performance, and providing feedback, determining training and development needs, and providing coaching and work direction.

  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a production manager in a custom production environment,. Experience in stonework business is an asset.
  • Prior experience supervising staff
  • Lean manufacturing training and certification
  • Strong leadership, verbal and written and communication skills
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
