Progress creates the following career opportunity in Tillsonburg, Ontario : Shop Foreman

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Shop Foreman oversees and participates in the day-to-day operations of the facility. This role supervises, supports and trains plant team members in the areas of production, maintenance, health and safety, and quality control. The Shop Foreman coordinates daily production requirements based on the production plan set by the Regional Manager or designate.

Responsibilities include :

  • Leads, guides, supervises, and motivates team members in the performance of the function of production and operations.
  • Assign orders, ensuring that the workload is evenly distributed to the team, and allows everything to be completed on time to meet customer demand.
  • Coordinates daily production activities with team members to provide superior customer service.
  • Verifies daily production reports are being filled out correctly and completely.
  • Ensures equipment is working efficiently and product meets required quality standards.
  • Complies with and follows Company Health and Safety policies, procedures, practices and legislative standards.
  • Provides training, coaching and development for production team members in areas of production, job function, health and safety and record keeping.
  • Advise and report on necessary improvements and modification of equipment and machinery to correct inconsistencies and errors.

This role requires :

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing operations in the culvert field, preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills for production decision making purposes.
  • A self-starter including initiative and self-confidence for leadership and self-motivation purposes.
  • Effective coaching of production team members to reduce equipment breakdown and improve overall productivity.
