QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Masters of Social Work degree (M.S.W.) from an accredited school of Social Work required. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Related social work experience, preferably in a medical setting, and demonstrated clinical competence. Link to Full Job Description Additional information for applicants Currently, this full time temporary masters degree of social work position is located on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital. Previous clinical experience in this area will be an asset. Social Workers work in team-base care that includes physicians and specialists to support families. Services include brief supportive counselling in all areas and in particular grief, loss of an infant, adjustment to a health diagnosis, providing resource allocation and referrals. Support with financial, resource applications and other needs is an expected role in collaboration with families, government, funding and community partnerships . Social workers work collaboratively with the Ministry of Children and Families in all matters related to child protection. All social workers must be registered with the British Columbia college of social workers to work in hospitals in B.C.
