Position: Sr. Software Engineer

Locations: Primary - Halifax, NS; Secondary - Toronto, ON

Duration: 24+ Months (Open ended SoW)

  • Design, implement and carry out the development necessary to build any automation solutions to support shift left and continuous testing in the DevOps pipeline.
  • Support and enable app teams to adopt SonarQube to improve code quality and test coverage (e.g. troubleshoot scan failure), and help defining guidelines and best practices.
  • Enable app teams to integrate qTest (a Test Case Management Solution) for tracking test executions and results in their DevOps pipeline.
  • Maintain and enhance our in-house developed platform/tool using the latest technologies such as NodeJS, React, Elasticsearch etc.
  • Build and expand our automated regression/smoke tests for our in-house build DevOps pipeline platform (e.g. Azure, Virtual Machine etc.).
  • Create and build standardized Quality Metrics dashboards for all stakeholders to access and report on.

Must-Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Diploma in IT with equivalent IT experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in software development ( Java/Python ) and 3+ years using Javascript, Node.js, React with a thorough understanding of continuous integration testing (including Agile methodology).
  • Experience working with JIRA, Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, VB, Windows, Linux, Shell scripting, Groovy.
  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of DevOps methodology and tools.
  • Sound knowledge of testing concepts.
  • Experience with Open Source and industry recognized testing tools (e.g. JMeter)
  • Experience in using Elasticsearch, Apache Kafka, Openshift/Docker, Grafana and version control tool like GIT etc.
  • Experience with API development and User Interface development.
  • Experience in writing SQL queries and Databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
