The incumbent is responsible for overseeing Fire Alarms systems and elevating devices operation. The incumbent will maintain record documentation of all installations, inspections, maintenance and logs of failed equipment and systems. As a key member of the Facilities Operation Maintenance and Engineering Services, the Incumbent is required to be on call 24/7 on a rotational basis according to a published schedule.Duties and Responsibilities:Under the general direction of the Supervisor, Operating Services, the incumbent performs inspection, installation, maintenance and repairs of all electrical, at all Algonquin College campuses;The incumbent must ensure that operation and maintenance of all equipment under the incumbent’s care are in accordance with legislated maintenance and safety codes;The incumbent is responsible for maintaining continuous operation of all high voltage equipment (44KV) and switchgear, fire alarm systems, auxiliary power (generators and batteries). Repairs or replaces motors, ballasts, lights, outlets, and switches. Checks andrepairs clock systems, control centres power panels and HVAC systems. Completes tests and reports electrical deficiencies to appropriate authorities. Checks out and reports all elevator problems;Tests fire alarms and all types of fire suppression systems during regular safety inspections;Maintains specific academic shop equipment and responds to and addresses electrical hazards. Repairs or replaces all indoor and outdoor lighting systems;Tests all auxiliary power (battery packs and generators) according to electrical code;Installs and maintains electrical and electronic controlled equipment in proper operating condition;Responds rapidly when failures threaten to interrupt College activities, identifies electrical problems at all Algonquin College campuses;The incumbent is responsible for scheduling and prioritizing work requests and ensuring that the necessary materials and supplies required to complete repairs are available;Assists other trades when needed;The incumbent maintains an up-to-date database of all equipment under the incumbent's care and is responsible for the creation and implementation of a Preventive Maintenance Program for all electrical equipment. Is responsible for establishing preventive maintenance tasks and frequencies that are mandated by code;Reviews and records the state of existing equipment and components and recommends repair or replacement programs that should be undertaken to make equipment safe, improve operating efficiency or better the productivity of College operations;Provides technical information to other members of Physical Resources as required;Assists in the preparation of the Standard Operating procedures;The incumbent ensures that work performed by contractor is performed according to scope and specifications, which includes meeting proper code requirements, proper practice, as well as documenting deficiencies to be reported to supervisor;Fabricates and repairs various items (e.g., shafts, linkages) using own design experiences and ideas;Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor or coordinator.Required Qualifications:Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Inter Provincially Certified Electrician and have working experience as Certified Electrician;Inter Provincial Electrical Trade Certification;Experience as an Electrician within a large-scale institutional facility, preferably in a College, University or Hospital;Experience with Lighting Controls systems would be an asset. In-depth knowledge of facility electrical systems operation and maintenance;Ability to undertake accurate troubleshooting of HVAC equipment;Ability to handle multiple tasks without losing focus on priorities;Experience working in a client centered environment with a focus on client service;Ability to work in a team environment Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook;Excellent oral and written communication skills.​* This position is paid at Payband J* Vacancy is for P14710
