ASCO’s Construction Estimator successfully tracks down project leads, turns them into bidding opportunities, solicits pricing from trade partners and develops detailed budgets and competitive bids and proposals in order to meet the objective of continued and sustainable growth of the Company. Some of the Construction Estimator responsibilities include:

  • Recommending and implementing winning tendering strategies
  • Developing mutually profitable, long term business relationships with project partners
  • Qualifying bidding and prequalification opportunities
  • Analyzing project risk and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Performing quantity takeoffs, leads estimating efforts and tender closings
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.

The preferred candidates will:

  • have seven to ten (7-10) years experience in Institutional, Commercial, Industrial and/or Water/Wastewater construction estimating in Canada.
  • hold a professional engineering degree (P.Eng), or a Gold Seal Certificate (GSC) in Estimating, or a Quantity Surveyor designation.
  • have experience in estimating LEED projects
  • have excellent knowledge of local market conditions and industry players
  • have direct estimating experience working for a general contractor in the capacity of Construction Estimator for large Institutional, Commercial, Industrial and/or Water/Wastewater construction projects valued between $1 million and $100 million
  • have the ability to handle stressful situation and meet tight deadlines
  • have superior leadership, motivational and mentoring skills
  • have strong management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • have excellent communication skills in English and in French (oral and written)
  • be able to read, understand and interpret complex contract documents, specifications, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
  • be eligible for security clearances and possess a valid driver’s license
  • have superior working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), MS Project or Primavera scheduling software and industry leading estimating/quantity take off software.
