14 FULL-TIME General Labourer (Summer Students)

Open positions include : 10 in Cut Department (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)

2 in HACCP Department ( 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM)

2 in Shipping Department ( 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)

Contract Dates : For College/University Students will be: May 6th - August 30th, 2024

For High School Students will be: July 2nd - August 30th, 2024.

The Job : As part of the Conestoga team you will play an important role providing specialty and retail pork products to over 30 countries from one of the largest pork processing plants in Canada. Not only are there opportunities for production work but you will get the chance to train on specialty knife or machine operator positions to expand your skills. Once hired, you'll see positions posted for plant opportunities including higher skilled jobs, apprenticeships, driver trainee programs as well as office and leadership positions - we pride ourselves on our high volume of internal promotions and leadership development programs!

On a Typical Day You Would :

• Select and load pork product in boxes or bags
• Clean stations
• Sort and inspecting product for quality
• Package, wrap and label product to meet customer specifications
• Load product onto skids and into coolers
• Perform other line duties as assigned

Our Work Environment :

• Physically demanding, fast-paced, repetitive
• Standing for long periods and handling heavy loads
• Cut/Packaging department is refrigerated
• Noisy and some areas may have odours
• Slaughterhouse, meat processing and packing establishment

Your Skills & Qualifications Include :

• Currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary studies
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Commitment to safety and quality processes
• Ability to stand and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time
• Attention to detail and work well with others
• Perform critical thinking, have significant use of memory and continuous learning
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and decision-making skills
• Basic English communication skills
• Basic security clearance
• A Functional Work Simulation Assessment must be passed

Other Requirements

• Students must be able to fulfill the entire contract to it's conclusion.
• Students must have reliable transportation to our Breslau location (313 Menno Street)
• Selected students will be required to complete our hiring process which will include an interview, and passing both a plant tour and a functional work simulation assessment.
