Mobile Equipment Trainer

We are looking for an experienced Trainer to join our organization.

The Trainer is responsible for delivering training programs that will provide employees and external clients with basic knowledge and skills to perform their tasks safely, and efficiently. In addition to classroom learning, the Trainer is also required to provide a practical demonstration whenever possible and assess students’ abilities accordingly. A Trainer is expected to work collaboratively with the Training team to maintain and drive the success of the department.

CORE DUTIES : Training

  • Coordinate with Training Coordinator on all in-house and external training course offerings
  • Ensure students are thoroughly trained in the safe and efficient operation of all mobile equipment
  • Ensure students are aware of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Ketek Policies, Standards, and Work Procedures, and any other applicable documentation
  • Provide internal corrective action training sessions within the required deadlines and according to standards
  • Recommend safer methods, procedures, and preventative measures
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment, where required at office, shop, and client sites

Course Revision / Development

  • Ensure all employee training records are accurate and up to date
  • Ensure employees have completed all documentation (where required)

Training Administration

  • Ensure all employee training records are accurate and up to date

  • Be able to assist admin staff with scheduling and monitor internal program needs

Other Duties

  • Promote and establish excellent employee and client-based relationships
  • Provide support to other trainers with his/her training requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS : Required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience training adult learners
  • High school diploma / GED
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Experience towing a variety of trailers including fifth wheel
  • Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines while working individually or as part of a team
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and self-directed
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) specifically PowerPoint
  • Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
  • Ability to handle fast-changing schedules and priorities, with high-level prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Be able to travel to external client’s locations and additional Ketek Locations.
  • Strong customer service skills

Preferred

  • Canadian Red Cross Instructor Certification is considered an asset
  • Energy Safety Canada H2S Instructor Certification is considered an asset
  • Post-secondary education in related discipline
  • Experience with mobile equipment operation (Loader, Skid steer, Forklift, AWP Overhead Crane)
  • Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles, instructional design, training methodologies, learning management systems, and competency assessment

WORKING CONDITIONS : Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel
  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens
  • Use of mechanical aids: overhead crane, forklift, loader, skid steer and aerial work platform are required

Work Environment

  • Office environment (70%) yard and shop environment (30%)
  • May be required to work occasional weekends and outside of regular office hours
  • Must be able to travel to remote customer sites/facilities and other internal branches
