As a Senior Accountant with our agricultural company, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and success of our operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will leverage your expertise in accounting principles, financial analysis, and industry-specific knowledge to support our mission of sustainable agriculture and business growth. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed cost analysis for our agricultural operations, including crop production, equipment maintenance, and labor expenses, to optimize resource allocation and enhance profitability. Tax Compliance: Manage tax planning and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to relevant agricultural tax laws and regulations at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels. Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts for our agricultural operations, incorporating factors such as crop yields, market trends, and input costs to support strategic decision-making. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and physical inventory counts, to maintain accurate inventory records and minimize discrepancies. Financial Analysis: Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to senior management, identifying opportunities for cost savings, revenue growth, and operational efficiency improvements. Audit Support: Collaborate with external auditors during annual financial audits, providing documentation, explanations, and support to ensure compliance and transparency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA designation preferred. Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis in the agricultural or related industry. Solid understanding of agricultural accounting principles, including cost accounting, inventory valuation, and farm income taxation. Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or AgExpert. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
