Brunel is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to work for a major Canadian Petrochemical company in Sarnia, ON. Responsibilities: Quality Control (QC - Production testing) physical testing of Polyethylene (PE) Understanding Quality Assurance (QA - Requirements for PE Product Release) Sample Polyethylene (PE) Lab preparation and analysis - Sample PE Testing. Examples of Tests: Densities, Flows , Colors, Additives, Volatiles, Contamination, Gels Entry of Data Results into Lab Information Management program (LIMS) program {SAP} On shift communication / planning and use of 24 Hour Daily Operlogs Supports Lab Daily calibration, validation and reporting of testing equipment Defined by SAP PM Schedule Weekly calibration, validation and reporting of testing equipment Production schedule conflict management - adjusting to changing expectations with production Ongoing challenge with multiple Operations units (internal departmental communications) Production management decisions (SCRS Lab discussions with Operations Departments) Online predictor management understanding for production units that have current capability PE Batch / Lot calculations for Quality Control and Quality Assurance Polyethylene Retain sample collection and storage (inventory management) Safety Interactions & providing Safety Moments with Lab group Attend Operational Excellence Visual Management Meetings on shift as a part of our Continuous Improvement (CI) program Emergency Response - ER Vehicle driver and/or Environmental Monitoring support at Poly Sites Equipment troubleshooting (basic understanding of tag out process and safety precautions) Safe Work Permit (SWP) and SAP maintenance notifications entry may be required Analytical work requests assigned by peers to support our overall ME Poly Labs business needs Support of Experimental Operating Instructions (EOI's) non-commercial PE Products Polyethylene (PE) Product re-sample's and additional sample checks Customer complaint support requests by Day Support for assistance Equipment troubleshooting and repair (minimal to start) Qualifications: 3 year Lab Technologist Diploma or Equivalent Ability to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms, and other articles of safety clothing or gear as required by and regulatory agencies. Preferred experience within the Petrochemical, Manufacturing, or related industry Proficient knowledge and experience with plant operations, lab testing, and lab testing equipment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills Ability to work both in a team setting and individually with minimal supervision Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
