Job Description Under the direction of the Mental Health and Addictions Manager and working within an interdisciplinary mental health and addiction team, the Community Mental Health Nurse will provide a range of clinical services to children, youth, adults with mental health and addiction issues and support to their families. The incumbent will also serve as an important link between Intermediate Care Services and the services provided by the Primary Health Care System. Job Qualifications Required QualificationsGraduation from a recognized school of psychiatric nursing or graduation from a school of general nursing supplemented by postgraduate training in psychiatric nursingRegistered or eligible for registration with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS) or College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicleExperienceRequires a minimum of two years (postgraduate) recent recognized experience in a community mental health setting working with children, youth and families presenting with acute and chronic mental health problems.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to design, initiate and conduct in service training for other professionalsAbility to enter and retrieve data in computer database systemsAbility to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based interventionAbility to provide public education regarding children and youth and mental health concernsAbility to work in partnership within the community and possess a broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agenciesAbility to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to manage complex and multiple demandsCurrent knowledge of mental health and mental illness issues related to children and adolescentsDemonstrated knowledge of child development, addiction issues, mental health disorders and illnesses affecting mental health in children and youth including appropriate treatment modalities.Excellent time management and personal organizational skills with demonstrated ability to organize resources and establish priorities, including the ability to multi-taskInterpersonal competence, including effective problem solving and conflict resolutions skillsKnowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation that impacts the work of clinicians in a mental health settingKnowledge and skill related to psychiatric nursing practice including, but not limited to, assessment, treatment, case management, and medication usage and side effects.�Knowledge of the diversity of cultures, values and traditions and their impact on accessing mental health servicesLeadership abilities and the ability to work within a change management modelOrganizational skills, including the ability to maintain priorities while managing multiple and diverse demands.
