JOB OVERVIEW An Application Specialist is responsible for planning, designing and deployment of machinery and equipment working as a bridge between customers and the engineering team. We are looking for someone that is eager to continue their career, that is detail-oriented, professional and an out-of-the-box thinker. . It is crucial that our Applications Specialist promotes a positive company image through safety, quality, consistency, and professionalism. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES §  Engage with the customer at a technical level to understand the customer’s specific requirements §  Liaison between third parties to ensure product claims are verified §  Explore cost and time saving initiatives §  Develop concepts with customers to ensure a robust solution §  Develop and suss out innovative methods for design, manufacturing and processes §  Keep abreast of industry standards and best practices §  Collaborate internally and externally with subject matter experts §  Develop and execute presentations internally and to customers §  React to emergency and short lead customer requirements §  Provide Project Managers with assistance in estimating labour and material cost for quoting purposes §  Identify technical risks and their impact on the project to mitigate issues §  Assist with project conflict resolution §  Balance a workload of multiple priorities §  Participate in concept reviews, design kick offs and manufacturing reviews §  Participate in/review testing results §  Provide training/mentoring which includes: (1) Solidworks and PDM vault best practices. (2) TMG sanitary design guidelines. §  Interviewing potential candidates §  Provide design suggestions/concept layouts to PMs for quoting projects §  Provide design suggestions/concept layouts to Engineers designing projects §  Travel to customer locations as required §   Always conduct oneself in a professional manner in alignment with Company values, including but not limited to language use, attire, and workmanship §   In accordance with Company policy and relevant employment legislation, overtime and work outside of regular hours, and being on call may be required at the discretion of the Company §   All other duties as required Requirements REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS §  Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma preferred §  Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modeling and AutoCAD 2D – Inventor 3D experience an asset §  Strong knowledge of the food industry, food safety and sanitary design principles §  Proven ability to function in a self-directed environment and work independently on various design projects §  Able to solve complex technical problems and use critical thinking in a fast-paced, agile environment §  Able to maintain professionalism when dealing with clients in all interfaces §  Able to communicate completed designs effectively using 2D engineered drawings §  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office §  Applied knowledge of Design for Manufacturing techniques §  Working knowledge of automated equipment §  Comprehensive understanding of metal fabricating equipment and processes §  Applied knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques §  Candidate should excel in a team-based environment and be willing to share ideas and experiences §  Able to work with a variety of personality types and resolve conflicts
