Work Term: Permanent Work Language: English Hours: 37.5 hours per week Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years Work setting Willing to relocate Tasks Build staging or erect scaffolding for heavy metalworking jobs Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products Document work completed Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines Operate gas or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging Operate machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt, screw or rivet metal parts together Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal Place metal pieces in furnace Position and adjust dies on anvil of forging machinery Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions Remove metal pieces from furnace when colour or metal indicates proper forging temperature Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist Metal forming or shaping operations experience Bending Cutting machine Flattening Metal twisting Work conditions and physical capabilities Attention to detail Combination of sitting, standing, walking Fast-paced environment Hand-eye co-ordination Handling heavy loads Manual dexterity Overtime required Physically demanding Repetitive tasks Sitting Standing for extended periods Work under pressure Weight handling Up to 9 kg (20 lbs) Personal suitability Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Flexibility Judgement Organized Team player Other benefits Free parking available
