Summary Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Lead, the Buyer is responsible to follow established procedures, practices and policies within an MRP environment, to obtain quotations, evaluate proposals, award purchase orders and expedite delivery of goods and services. The Buyer will manage daily systems, processes and procedures governing the end to end process for the procurement of materials from the right suppliers, at the right price, quality and delivery requirements. This role is based at our Bedford, NS location and is an in-office role.As a Buyer, your main responsibilities will include (but are not limited to): Execute and generate Purchase Orders, in accordance with MRP demand and/or approved requisitions; Research and source hard to find items; Generate requests for proposals, bids and other similar documents related to the purchasing of supplies, equipment, services and materials; Under guidance, may assist in negotiations and apply limited knowledge of commercial contract law and guidelines, practices and requirements to assess, plan and negotiate best terms and conditions and to minimize risk; Send expedite reports on a weekly basis to Suppliers to ensure existing Purchase Order deliverables are on schedule, and solicit commitment for expedite requests; Expedite critical path parts by working closely with the Supplier and any/all internal depts. impacted, and resolve any problematic shipments; Maintain the MRP system (Costpoint 8.1) delivery due dates and respective notes; Evaluate supplier performance (price, OTD, lead-time, non-conformance); Establish and maintain effective relationships with the company suppliers in accordance with the ethical code and standards of conduct maintaining the highest standard of professionalism; Provide analytics as required to include impact of changes on price, FX, waterfall analysis, overall activity levels, and savings tracking; Assist in implementing group procurement strategy.Track and report cost savings or avoidances; Support the monthly Estimate at Complete (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) data collection and validation; and Perform a variety of general tactical duties as required to support purchasing activities. What you require to be successful in the role: Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within the high-tech industry is required; Possession of a Diploma in Material or Supply Chain Management is considered an asset; APICS certification is considered an asset; Ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, etc.; Thorough knowledge of MRP is essential; Effective computer skills including Power BI, Excel spreadsheets and database creation, maintenance and update; Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);  Good organization skills;  Effective customer service skills;  Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and meet fluid deadlines;  Ability to manage multiple assignments; and  Works well within a team.
