Description Oversee and coordinate Shelter Lounge activities and support Shelter Workers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Willingness & ability to work within the mission, vision & values of The Salvation Army and Ridge Meadows MinistriesSupport, where and when possible, the efforts of all residents and co-workersUse a client-centered approach by consistently demonstrating compassion, respect and empathy in the administration of policies and proceduresPlan and organize social and connection activities for Shelter guestsMaintain consistent structure in Shelter loungeUpdate client files and case notes in data entry systemAssist Shelter Workers and Case Workers as requiredAttend Public Relations events as requestedGive guidance, support and encouragement to volunteersOrganize and restock supplies HOURS: Flexibility in hours is expected & work may include evenings and weekendsBased on 35 hours per week for a total of 280 hours over 8 weeks2 positions available starting June/July QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Between 18-30 years of age at start of Employment as per Canada Summer Jobs Program eligibility requirementsStrong service ethic and a friendly disposition with the public with effective communication skillsAdaptability to change and frequent interruptionsTeam oriented and able to take initiative with ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgroundsAgreeable to a flexible, non-routine scheduleHigh standards of integrity and confidentiality PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES: Possess valid Food Safe, CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis certification or willingness to obtainA current valid BC driver’s license and clean driving recordComputer and word processing ability Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide: Background checkA clear vulnerable sectorA clean driversCompletion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety
