Join the team supporting our community of families in the day camp from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday! Craft making, Sports play and Swim days will all be included in this fun community kids camp at Coquitlam YMCA! Bring your passion to play, along with your certification in Aquatics, Lifeguarding, National Lifesaving Bronze Cross, or other Certifications as you will be in the pool for this event! Nature & Scope:Will report to the Supervisor, Child, Youth and Family and will work collaboratively with other members of the YMCA team to provide a safe and fun environment for our child, youth, and family programming.Major Responsibilities:Lead programs for children aged 0 to 12 years old in a positive and professional mannerFacilitate games and activities for various children’s programs to promote active and creative playBuild meaningful relationships with children, parents, YMCA members, visitors, and colleaguesNavigate challenging conflict situations using YMCA standards and proceduresStrong work ethic and able to remain flexible Perform general administrative duties and record keeping responsibilitiesEnsure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA policies and ensuring they are maintained among all members and staffAssist with training new staff/volunteers in procedures and practicesRequirements: Current Standard First Aid certificate with CPR level C & AED (valid within 2 years) Age16 years or olderExperience working with children - preferredAquatics Experience - preferredAquatics certificates (Bronze Cross, NL, WSI) - preferredDemonstrated high level of customer service skillsSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date3 professional referencesApplication deadline: OngoingThe YMCA cares about the same things you do: raising healthy and resilient children, ensuring youth feel confident and supported, and helping people feel healthy and connected to others in the community. As the Lower Mainland's largest operational charity, we are 4,000 staff and volunteers providing vital community services that are having a positive impact on some of the community's most pressing social issues.
