Diamond Estates (TSXV: DWS) is the third largest producer of VQA wines in Niagara, Ontario and is proud of our high-quality wines. Production is centralized in a state-of-the-art facility with a new tasting and retail store. The Company also operates a sales agency division, Trajectory Beverage Partners (“TBP”) that represents foreign and domestic beverage alcohol suppliers across Canada.

Based in the Niagara region, reporting to the Director of Operations & Winemaker, the Cellar Hand will partner with our wine making team and Operations leaders to accomplish the following: Key Tasks:

  • Harvest Processing (grape reception, destemming, crushing, pressing)
  • Assist with Fermentation Management, inoculations, nutrient additions, sampling, pump overs, punch downs.
  • Cellar Work: barrel filling, racking, blending, additions, filtration
  • Perform Cellar Sanitation, tank and barrel cleaning, general cleaning of facility and winery equipment.
  • Operating forklift and other winery equipment
  • Maintaining inventory of cellar additives
  • Receiving packaging material and locating in appropriate storage area(s) and completing proper documentation.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience working in beverage production, preferably with wine (formal wine education considered an asset)
  • Ability to understand production requirements via verbal and written instructions.
  • Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure while keeping the emphasis on quality, accuracy, and safety.
  • Mechanically inclined/hands

  • Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrating reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations, operating procedures and company policies.
  • Knowledge of safe cellar practices, including safe handling of chemicals/WHMIS.
  • Ability to work shift work from time to time, including occasional nights and weekends during harvest season.
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry weights of up to 55 pounds at varying frequencies.
