(Knowledge, Skill, Experience)

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Food Service Management, Food Science, Business or related field.
  • Minimum two years supervisory experience in Food Service in a unionized multi service environment.
  • Strong computer skills, specifically knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, CBORD menu management.
  • Experience in Clinical Nutrition, diet knowledge and meal plan customization.
  • Understanding of regulatory issues: Food Safety and Sanitation, WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Control.
  • Membership to the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management preferred or willing to obtain.
  • Satisfactory attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)

  • In collaboration with Registered Dietitian and in accordance with Standards of care, provides nutrition care to patient to achieve optimal health.
  • Support the Registered Dietitian in the assessment and treatment of patients.
  • Assists with the delivery of high quality nutrition care by helping to identify and monitor patients at nutrition risk.
  • Perform meal rounds, calorie counts, electronic charting, visit patients to obtain food preferences, liaison between RD's, Nutrition Services staff and nursing staff to maintain effective communication with in the health care tem.
  • Manage the day to day operations including, Labour Relations, staff scheduling, problem solving and ensuring the provisions of the Collective Agreement are met.
  • Ensure the quality, quantity and food presentation is of the highest standard.
  • Meet financial targets through effective menu planning, ordering and inventory.
  • Supervise and co-ordinate activities of the department.
  • Coach and monitor staff in following HACCP and Food Safety and Sanitation.
  • Maintain a high level of customer and patient satisfaction.
