Mechanical Designer Corunna, ON Contract: 12 months Introduction Brunel is seeking a Mechanical Designer to provide collaborative mechanical design services and plant technical support for our major petrochemical client. Responsibilities Process Piping & Mechanical design of capital and expense projects using engineering standards to develop engineering drawings and select piping material. Complete Process Piping & Mechanical design of capital and expense projects using engineering standards to develop engineering drawings and select piping material. Prepare engineering work packages for construction (scope of work, detailed drawings, bill of materials). Maintaining engineering design data and drawings as required to maintain integrity of engineering systems records. Interface with technical & operations engineering as well as planning, maintenance, and construction trades. Interface with 3rd party engineering consultants and vendors. Provide technical support and troubleshoot plant operations as related to the mechanical discipline. Provide support during field execution activities. Requirements Technical school diploma & 8+ years of relevant industry experience. Eligible for C.E.T. (Certified Engineering Technologist) certification from OACETT. Working knowledge of project engineering systems and work processes. Knowledge and experience with Microstation CAD systems and computer aided drafting. Knowledge and experience with SmartPlant Suite Design tools (including SP3D, SPISO & SPF) or equivalent is an asset. Computer literate in MS Office applications and Adobe / BlueBeam. Demonstrated knowledge of the Management of Change (MOC) process and its importance Ability to work independently and manage own workload with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic environment. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional groups within the organization. to contribute and be seen as an informal leader. Ability to challenge peers to ensure highest level of performance / quality from team. Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills, willingness to take initiative.
