From 26 offices in 15 countries, with projects in over 80 locations worldwide, we create sustainable outcomes for our people, clients, and communities.Our team in Canada is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Industrial and Infrastructural Division in the Burlington office.This will include completing detail design projects, investigating unusual and difficult problems, determining causes of failure, devising effective solutions, scheduling of engineers, technical support staff, and sub-contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.Specifically, as HVAC and Building Services Engineer you will develop, approve and co-ordinate work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met. Develop and recommend improvements in the design process to lower costs, improve work quality and develop guidelines and initiate investigations of engineers under your direction. Key areas or tasks: Experienced and confident to liaison directly with clients/owners to develop project needs from initial concepts through to implementation and dealing with contractors to provide complete systems integration/commissioning to the successful satisfaction of the client.Prepare and/or interpret design criteria and scope.Prepare P&ID and flow sheet diagrams, schematics, and balances.Be proficient in Industrial and Building HVAC and air movement systems, as well, building utilities design such as steam and condensate, hot water, chilled water, and cooling tower systems and associated piping distribution networks, pump design and selection, Fire Suppression Systems, Storm and Sanitary piping designs, Compressed Air, and other specialty process piping network designs.Specify and select equipment and systems for purchase.Prepare cost estimates for engineering work and/or capital expenditures.Organize, plan, schedule, and budget engineering, drafting, and design work. Assume responsibility for engineering, design and drafting work within assigned areas.Prepare design and construction standards and contract specifications, scope documents, and special details.Layout and arrange plant, equipment, systems, instruments and controls, structures, and utilities.Perform calculations and conduct analyses and studies as necessary to complete design work.Check drawings for accuracy and overall quality.Document the engineering and design work.Oversee the preparation of a full submission package for Building Permits and provide engineering stamp for same.Write technical reports.Quality checking of work of Mechanical team including other engineers and design staff.Qualifications Minimum 10 years' related experience in Industrial, Institutional, Building and/or Public Infrastructure HVAC and Mechanical Building Services along with an engineering or applied science degree.Knowledge in governing applicable codes and regulations pertaining to required systems experience noted above. Registration as a Professional Engineer (PEO) in ON. Registration in other provinces and territories is an assetKnowledge and/or experience on LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) projectsKnowledge of financial, contractual, and other administrative procedures, and knowledge of related fields of engineeringKnowledge of safety guidelines and project specific safety requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skills in English.Driver’s license and ability to travel to site independently and conduct site inspections as required by Ontario Building Code.
