The Senior Structural Design Engineer will: – Design conceptual structural and system installation drawings for the entire airframe of new and existing aircraft programs.– Work closely with constraints, systems, interiors and supporting functions such as thermodynamics, mass properties, etc.– Generate design studies and preliminary drawings using 3D modeling.– Provide technical solutions to design or manufacturing problems.– Generate and implement weight-saving ideas.– Contribute to impact analysis (technical, cost, schedule).– Provide direct support to other engineering and operations departments.– Support design and program reviews with partners/suppliers.– Provide project progress and functional management reports.– Manage design changes through all cycles of the change management process. What we’re looking for in a Structural Design Engineer: – Diploma or degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering or aerospace technical field.– At least 8 to 10 years relevant experience in aerospace or a related industry.– Solid knowledge of aircraft structures and/or systems installation: configuration, preliminary sizing, design for manufacture, detailed design (sheet metal, machined parts, piping, component assembly, GD&T), materials and processes, certification requirements, weight control and industry design standards.– Good knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and capabilities.– Knowledge of general aeronautical systems operation is an asset.
