The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range of complex groundwater flow and transport projects with responsibilities as follows:Lead and support development and application of modelling tools to support decision-makingSupport the development and execution of conceptual model-driven work plans that balance the application of innovative modelling tools or approaches, with the scale and scope of the problemDevelop models for a wide range of hydrogeology projects including:Regional and local hydrogeological assessmentsMunicipal source water projection (quantity and quality)Risk assessment and groundwater remediationMining reserve estimates and dewateringSurface water and Groundwater interactionsRegulatory groundwater monitoring programsCollaborate with a multi-disciplinary team focused on being the trusted advisor to our clientsManage multiple priorities, scope changes and support multiple project managersProvide junior modelling staff with personal technical guidance on a routine basis to help ensure that their work is accurate and efficiently completedAnalyze results and communicate project findings through technical reports and presentations to a variety of stakeholdersLiaise with clients and stakeholders within various sectorsWhat We Are Looking ForAn undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Earth Sciences or related discipline4 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role within a consulting environment with experience in geology, hydrogeology, chemistry and numerical methods. Candidates with a or a post-doc with less than the required consulting industry experience are encouraged to apply since time will be credited for completing a or a post-doc.Eligible for professional registration with provincial self-regulating organizations APEGA, EGBC, PEO, PGO)Demonstrated experience in the application and adaptation of numerical model tools and approaches, including uncertainty analysis to support risk assessment, remedial action plans, subwatershed studies, environmental assessments, and wellhead protection studiesExpertise with MODFLOW, FEFLOW, GS-FLOW, MIKESHE or similar softwareKnowledge in specialized technical areas such as geostatistics, reactive transport modelling, multi-phase flow modelling or coupled surface water-groundwater flow and transport modellingSkilled in data analysis using Database/GIS/Visualization tools to support conceptual model development and numerical modelling results analysesExperience using Python, C++, SQL for data management and analysesStrong interpersonal and communication skills, and a collaborative attitudeAbility to work within a multi-disciplinary team environmentPrevious experience writing technical memos and giving presentationsA valid class G driver’s license with no restrictions is an assetWhy Choose MatrixAt Matrix you will be part of an amazing community of collaborative people who live our and bring industry-leading technical expertise to their work every day.
