Makes sure that standards and procedures are followed, and that hygiene and health requirements are met to ensure that all products meet the established standards. Coordinates activities surrounding government and third-party audits and inspections. Manages governance of consumer and customer complaints. Is responsible for maintaining the plant’s HACCP Program, SQF Certification Food Fraud and Food Defense Programs. Helps promotion of a quality culture through leadership, ownership, and accountability.How Agropur invests in YOURecognition of years of service in calculating vacation timeFlexible group insurance plan, including telemedicine serviceEmployee assistance programOpportunity to invest in you (Career Path, Mentoring program, etc.)Pension plan including employer contributionsWhat’s involved in this roleReporting to the Plant Director, the Quality Control Manager assumes the following responsibilities:Responsible for ensuring the Burnaby Milk Plant manufactures products that meet customer and consumer expectations regarding food quality, safety and security.Determine the Quality Assurance and sanitation programs to be implemented in the Plant and support the Production Manager, Warehouse Manager and Supervisors to implement them.Update the Plant’s quality control standards and procedures manuals as needed to optimize product quality.Maintain and update HACCP Plans, Quality Programs, and SOPs to ensure they meet the requirements for all quality audits.Lead the Management Team on traceability exercises and in all quality audits from CFIA, GFSI and other organizations.Responsible as the SQF Practitioner.Use LEAN methodology and tools learned in training on Lean Manufacturing.Promote a positive work environment and adopt a culture of continuous improvement in areas of Quality, Health & Safety, Productivity and the Environment.Implement continuous improvement projects.Responsible for all employee/crew training on Quality issues including GMP, HACCP and SQF.Assist the Production Manager, Warehouse Manager and Supervisors to ensure the on-the-job training programs are adequate.Ensure Lab supplies inventory levels and plant chemical supplies inventory levels are maintained.Investigate and report on supplier non-conformances.Assist the Production Manager, Warehouse Manager and Supervisors to ensure that parts, materials, ingredients, etc. meet quality standards.Must operate within budget and communicate to the Plant Director when budget will be exceeded.Responsible for all Health & Safety programs in the Plant and review H&S weekly/period results, issues /concerns.Assist the Supervisors to determine safe operating procedures and incorporate these safety procedures into the program.Assist the Production Manager, Warehouse Manager and Supervisors to ensure standards, policies and procedures are followed.Ensure manufacturing, shipping and receiving operations comply with quality programs.Ensure all recipes and instructions are followed and each operator is familiar with SOPs for his position if applicable.Review Plant documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards is met.Initiate investigations on non-conformance issues, make conclusions and implement corrective actions.Investigate complaints lodged by consumers and customers.Promote and enhance a positive employee workplace atmosphere including efforts to continuously improve teamwork and establish high levels of employee engagement.What you need to join our team Min five (5) years of experience in a similar position in the food industry.Bachelor’s degree in food science and technology or another relevant fieldExcellent knowledge of written and spoken EnglishExcellent knowledge of the HACCP, CFIA & GFSI/SQFProven leadership in a continuously improvement food manufacturing environmentAnalytical attitude, organizational and planning skillsThe ability to read and understand written specifications and instructions.The ability to work with others and give good direction as required.Build strong relationships with the different corporate departments, suppliers, customers and auditors#LI-RC1Agropur welcomes people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
